The update corrects a known issue reported on Instrumentation Service version 4.6.0. This update supports the following: System: PowerEdge 6400, 6450 Operating Systems: Novell(R) Netware(R) 4.x, 5.x, 6.x Always see the Dell Support website at support.dell.com for the most current information. ##################################################################### DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM CORRECTED IN THIS UPDATE ##################################################################### This update corrects the following problems in Server Administrator with Instrumentation Service version 4.6.0. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DEGRADED SYSTEM PERFORMANCE ---------------------------------------------------------------------- When the system is running under stressed conditions, performance is degraded. This update adjusts the intervals of monitoring the environmental sensors to balance system performance. This problem exists only on PowerEdge 6400 and 6450 systems. This update corrects this problem. ====================================================================== INSTALLATION OF THE UPDATE PACKAGE ON MANAGED NODES RUNNING NOVELL NETWARE 4.X, 5.X AND 6.X OPERATING SYSTEMS ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------- BEFORE INSTALLING THE UPDATE ---------------------------------------- 1. Install Server Agent version 4.6.0 before installing the update. 2. Extract files from the zip file, "IS460BMW.zip." Copy the package into a temporary directory on the managed node server. ---------------------------------------- INSTALLING THE UPDATE ---------------------------------------- 1. At the Netware command console, run the "SYS:\SYSTEM\DELL\OMANAGE\IWS\BIN\NETWARE\OMASTOP" 2. At the NetWare command console, run the "DCSTOP.ncf" file. 3. Create a backup directory, "Updates\OMSA460B," on the server and copy all the files in the "SYS:\SYSTEM\DELL\OMANAGE\OMSA" directory to the backup directory you just created. 4. Copy all the files from the update package under the directory "OMSA460B" to the "SYS:\SYSTEM\DELL\OMANAGE\OMSA" directory on the server. 5. At the NetWare command console, run the "DCSTART.ncf" file. 6. At the Netware command console, run the "SYS:\SYSTEM\DELL\OMANAGE\IWS\BIN\NETWARE\OMASTART" ---------------------------------------- UNINSTALLING THE UPDATE ---------------------------------------- 1. At the Netware command console, run the "SYS:\SYSTEM\DELL\OMANAGE\IWS\BIN\NETWARE\OMASTOP" 2. Run the "DCSTOP.ncf" file from the NetWare command console. 3. Copy all the files in the backup directory, "Updates\OMSA460B," to the "SYS:\SYSTEM\DELL\OMANAGE\OMSA" directory. 4. Run the "DCSTART.ncf" file from the NetWare command console. 5.
