Dell SAS RAID Storage Manager(SSM) Installation =============================================== To install the product, the user should execute the command "./install.sh" from the installation directory. Dell SAS RAID Storage Manager (SSM) Un-installation ================================================== The product can be uninstalled using "Uninstall" shortcut created in the Program menu. The user may also directly run the script "/usr/local/Dell SAS RAID Storage Manager/uninstaller.sh" to uninstall SSM. Notes: 1. To shutdown SSM Framework service, run "/etc/init.d/vivaldiframeworkd stop". It is advisable to stop Monitor service before stopping SSM Framework service. To stop Monitor service run "/etc/init.d/mrmonitor stop". Fixes and Enhancements ===================== 1. Added support for revertible hot-spare on PERC 6/i Adapter. 2. Added ability to configure AEN severity and delivery. Functionality ============= 1. The login and password combination used for Dell SAS RAID Storage Manager is the same as the administrator/root login for the operating system on the machine. Note that this is not the network login (if the machine is connected to a network), but it is the administrative login and password for the local machine. 2. Dell SAS RAID Storage Manager checks for bootable partitions when trying to create or delete virtual drives. Creating a virtual device on a default Linux install may have an issue, since unused disks may be configured with partitions and these partitions may be marked as bootable. This would cause Dell SAS RAID Storage Manager not to report the disks as being available for use. To resolve this, the unused disks need to have the bootable flag switched off (done using fdisk) so that Dell SAS RAID Storage Manager can see and use the disks to create a virtual device. Known Issues ============ 1. When logging into Dell SAS RAID Storage Manager, if an invalid, excessively long user name is used there is a possibility that this will cause the application to hang. To resolve this the java session needs to be terminated and the application needs to be restarted. 2. When upgrading Dell SAS RAID Storage Manager on Linux, it is preferred to use the provided install script, or uninstall and re-install the application via the rpm commands. Do not use the rpm upgrade command since this does not perform the same level of functionality needed to completely upgrade Dell SAS RAID Storage Manager. 3. For RHEL5, it is necessary to install compat-libstdc++ version 33-3.x before installing the rpm. 4. Dell SAS RAID Storage Manager will not recognize SAS6/iR controllers using native drivers on RHEL 5. Upgrade the drivers to the latest version from dell.com. Error Codes =========== These are late additions to the error codes listed in the users guide: 1. 0x821a - This error code indicates that an operation has failed due to a SMART type error on the disk drive.
