####################################################################### DELL POWERCONNECT 3324 and 3348 v1.2.0.6 FIRMWARE README ####################################################################### NOTE: This ReadMe provides information for PowerConnect 3324 and 3348 v1.2.0.6 firmware. ####################################################################### CRITICALITY ####################################################################### Recommended - Dell recommends applying this update during your next scheduled update cycle. The update contains feature enhancements or changes that will help keep your system software current and compatible with other system modules (firmware, BIOS, drivers and software). ####################################################################### DESCRIPTION ####################################################################### * This is the firmware release v1.2.0.6 for the Dell PowerConnect 3324 and 3348 networking switch. * This firmware is transferable to the switch via a TFTP server. * Please read the notes in the zip file for further information. ####################################################################### FIXES/ENHANCEMENTS ####################################################################### * PC 33xx - RFC 1493 MIB extension queries return as a void object : SNMP queries to the 1493 MIB extension (OID 17.4.3.1) do not return information on the dot1dTpFdbTable object. * PC33xx - ACLs not getting applied because of HW resources : Fewer ACEs are allowed before it fails due to lacking hardware resources. It is, however, failing well below the stated max 120 ACEs for 1Gbit/s ports and 248 ACEs for 100Mbit/s * PowerConnect 33xx - IP ACL Issue: TCP / UDP Port Numbers : When configuring an ACL from within the web interface and specifying a specific TCP or UPD port number to permit or deny, the actual TCP or UDP port is not correctly configured. * Editing MAC Based ACL’s doesn't display all data : When editing the existing MAC Based ACL, Notice the Source MAC/Destination MAC and Mask are non-legible and the MASK is missing in both Source and Destination tabs. Click cancel, view the last created MAC Based ACL, this time only the Source MAC & Destination MAC’s are legible and both MASK entries are blank (even though the user previously entered data in those fields. * 33xx shows "information" events only when a port security violation occurs : Port security violation on a 33xx should send a critical (red) trap and should change the global status to critical. * PowerConnect 33xx - "Lack of Hardware Resources" Error Message when a ACL consisting of (6) ACEs is bound to interfaces : Fewer ACEs are allowed before it fails due to lacking hardware resources. It is, however, failing well below the stated max 120 ACEs for 1Gbit/s ports and 248 ACEs for 100Mbit/s * SNMP Agent reports incorrect Port Lists on 3348 and 3324s : It is seen in port lists when you go to VLAN and when you go to Multicast Settings and add a multicast address and add ports g2, g3, and g4 only. The web UI and CLI see it correctly as ports 2, 3, and 4, but the SNMP Agent is converting the hex into an ascii character if the first bit is not turned on for this MIB entry (70 hex becomes "p"). * PowerConnect 33xx reboots with TFTP Transfer Error : This happens only when a particular BOOTP reply packet is injected into the switch, Once BOOTP was disabled the switches have not had an issue * PowerConnect 33xx - Access-lists - additional info on "permit tcp" “permit ip” functions : Attempting to "permit ip" will not allow TCP or UDP traffic to flow. ICMP requests are even denied. Attempting to "permit tcp" will also allow UDP traffic to flow. The "permit udp" ACLs function as expected; only UDP traffic is permitted. ####################################################################### ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ####################################################################### NOTE: Perform the upgrade procedure from the console interface via an RS232 serial port. When using a telnet session or web interface alone, your connection to the switch is not available until the switch has entered forwarding mode. This takes approximately three minutes. ####################################################################### IMPORTANT INFORMATION ####################################################################### **Please read the Adobe PDF documents enclosed in the ZIP download.** ####################################################################### Information in this document is subject to change without notice.
